In the summer of 2021, CREATEFOOTBALL GmbH created a data profile for the new squad position of the left central defender to be filled. The team was looking for a left-footer who could constructively build up play with the help of pinpoint progressive and forward passes. One of the top candidates for this profile was Belgian Siemen Voet (22). The defensive player was loaned to KV Mechelen in the previous season and saw sporadic action for the most part. However, the data showed his potential with more confidence and more playing time, he was signed by PEC Zwolle and given a two-year contract with an option for another.
The young Belgian is playing exactly the role he was meant to, playing vertically out from the back, and is above the Eredivisie average in almost every relevant defensive category. Only the change of system to a three-man defensive formation changed the picture a bit, his positioning changed the passing routes into the center, Voet developed his game and from then on increasingly supplied the left rail player Mees de Wit in the final third.
We are curious about his further development!
